This has been the best Tour for a couple of decades. It has also been the hardest. It is a good Tour for the French too, with several stage wins and some heroic breakaways. The French riders have not had many good results since the Hinault days - they always blamed drug assistance by other nations (completely forgetting that their own Richard Virenque among many others were abusers). However, this Tour is definately cleaner and the French are beginning to feel vindicated.
Yesterdays Mt Tourmalet was a classic with Yellow jersey Contador handling Andy Shlecks attack to remain 8 sec in the lead overall.
The big dissapointments have been Team Sky and Bradley Wiggins who have learnt some harsh lessons - they have performed more like Team Pie in the Sky. There is still something to come though - maybe Bradley has saved himself during the last few mountain days, so that he stands a chance in Saturdays time trial - his speciallity.

Yes TC Bradley Wiggins has been dissapointing. How about Mark Cavandish and his sprint finishing, amazing how they have enough energy left.

Mark Cavendish is now regarded as the best ever roadman sprinter. His win in Paris was breathtaking. It is highly likely that he will be riding for Team Sky next season. Don't write Bradley Wiggins off though. He has many more 'Tours' in his legs, albeit with a different agenda - prolog and time trial wins + lead out train for Cav. He is still a strong contender for the Olymics too. What a great Tour! And respect for Armstrong for finishing and remaining cool and dignified after so many accidents and setbacks. Even the French are giving him a nod of approval now.
