Son works at Lidl in hols. This week is brit week and he bought some of the sausage rolls home - they are great and €1,99 for a dozen which you can't make yourself for that. Also very sickly but yummy caramel shortcakes. I've now got six packs of the sausage rolls in the freezer for comfort eating. The blackcurrant squash drink is better than Ribena too so we have a stock in of that.

Yet another I'm cross with Lidl post. One, they didn't email me with the British food promo like they do 3 times a week for everything else (it was coincidence I was there on the day), and two, they didn't have any cheddar cheese!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for that for months the bastards!!!!!!! evil01

I saw those sausage rolls but they were covered in Dutch writing and if that indicates they were Dutch sausages believe me I'd rather eat an andouille!!!!! Bleagh!!!

There wasn't any cheddar onthe promo this time. We all know the products are not really british or american for those promos but the actual products are a bit out of the ordinary for a change. I read somewhere that most of the cheddar sold in europe comes from Romania or somewhere out of the ordinary regarding cheese but made under british recipe and regulation.

Clover, we had some of the millionaire's shortbread too, very yummy!! Mr. Green

MM, do they not have cheddar on the cheese counters of your local supermarketes? Maybe there are more 'Brits' this way because all our locals sell it now!!! Bloody expensive though sad01

Ruby it was €7.50 at Lidl which is cheaper than the Cantal we always buy for our sarnies, at the supermarkets it costs between €15-17kg which is way too expensive (and it isn't anywhere near as nice as the Lidl stuff!). Last promo we bought enough to last us for about 4 months. Very Happy

Never mind we cleared the shop out of Jalapeno pepper flavour tortilla chips which are yummy! Finger02

Hmmm, shame they didn't have it for that price Neutral We occassionally buy a small chunk but at 17€ per kilo, it's too epensive to buy regularly. We'll just take our coolboxes back with us when we next go back & stock up!! Mr. Green

We're coming over next Friday Ruby on the lunchtime Plymouth to Roscoff crossing and we'll be calling at Tescos on the way. If you want some cheese we are bringing a cool box that will have space in it, let me know. Wink

I don't think many younger people eat that sort of stuff, like at lot of young english wouldn't eat tripe etc. As for the chicken pie, who in their right mind would think to put cinnamin in it, it really doesn't go does it, it was really a shock when I bit into it!! Shocked

I remember the boy saying they kept dishing up tripe and andouillettes at Lycée when he was there and practically no one would touch the stuff as it got put out again next day. His mate reckons still that he recognised the pieces he was given the first day sad01

Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I eat winkles and lots of other shell fish, my husband thinks some of that is disgusting.
(he'll eat oysters, mussels etc.)
He likes raw tripe, now that really does make me want to throw up! Shocked Shocked

Perhaps the chicken with cinnamin was thought up by a pregnant woman! Laughing
